Oh yes, Andy Williams, the holiday season is indeed the most wonderful time of the year! It’s time for LOTS of glitter nail polish!!

To help feed into the frenzy for a good, sparkly manicure during this year’s festive season, Nicole by OPI has launched four, limited edition lacquers simply called, Holiday Glitters.

“The holiday season’s celebratory feeling lends itself to added glitz and glamour in fashion, jewelry, accessories, and most importantly – for nails!” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director, in a press release. “…Red and gold glitter tones offer a more classic holiday look, while magenta and sapphire blue incorporate rich, weighty jewel tones – which is another important trend for the season.”

How about some swatches?!

Glitter In My Stocking

When I look at Glitter in My Stocking, it kind of captures gingerbread men, a roaring fireplace or a room warmly lit with the glow from lights on a Christmas tree. It’s a golden and red glitter beauty – the very fine glitter is in a clear base but it is opaque after two coats.

My Sleigh’s in the Shop

My Sleigh’s in the Shop is gorgeous, fine magenta and gold glitter in a clear base – this was also opaque in two coats. The sparkle on this polish made it hard to take off my nails – I instantly started looking forward to our annual holiday parties, the act of putting on black heels and festive tops – maybe with sequins! – and now, this nail polish!!

Orna-ment for Each Other

Orna-ment for Each Other is a gorgeous, tomato red and golden glitter – kinda the reverse of Glitter in My Stocking! Again, the glitter is fine, and the polish is opaque in two coats. Nothing says December to me like a red – unless it’s a red glitter!

Snow-man of My Dreams

Snow-Man of My Dreams is a gorgeous blue and rainbow glitter. Snowball fight, followed by hot cocoa and marshmallows, anyone?! Although still opaque after two coats, the glitter in this polish is a bit larger than the other three polishes in the collection.

Color Thoughts

These are gorgeous glitters - very typical holiday colors but each one arranged beautifully. I love the touches of gold in Orna-ment For Each Other and My Sleigh’s in the Shop, and the red in Glitter in My Stocking. I am sure I can find glitters similar to these, but as a polish fanatic, I think the combination of fine glitter, opaque coverage and the low-light hints of color from the three fine glitters make these a must-have.

Application Issues

I experienced no issue applying these glitters. They did not pull from the base of the nail, and coverage was easily achieved. The brush is a rather normal brush. I mentioned in my review of the Nicole by OPI Target-exclusive fall colors that the Nicole brush has changed - it is no longer a wide brush as was boasted when they released the Bieber polishes.

Additional Information

These limited edition Holiday Glitters will be available this month, and retail for $7.99 in the USA ($10.99 in Canada). You will be able to find them at HEB, Sears, Stage Stores, select Target locations, Target.com, and ULTA. In Canada, you will be able to find them at Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaw and Zellers.
