Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolor Collection

The Kardashian clan. They are loved. They are hated. Honestly? I could care less.

I’ve seen maybe five minutes of one of their reality shows. I don’t know much about them except they’re reality stars, and Kim is a sexy woman; I wouldn’t say I’ve got a girl crush on her but I can see what all the hoopla is over her looks. She’s pretty.

But beyond these opinions, I’ve got nothing. Oh yeah, except these gorgeous nail polishes that make up the Kardashian Kolor Collection, which was the Nicole by OPI holiday collection and practically flew off my local Walmart shelf!

Says Nicole by OPI in a press release, “Nicole by OPI joins the Kardashian/Jenner family in announcing the launch of Kardashian Kolors, 14 new nail lacquer shades inspired by these six trendsetting women. Kris Jenner and her five daughters – Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, and Kylie and Kendall Jenner – are known for their head-to-toe unique style, which now includes nails!”

I apologize I’m just getting around to reviewing these now, they were sent to me a couple months ago but with my health issues and crazy work schedule, I was unable to get to them when it was actually timely – bummer! However, I noticed over the weekend that these polishes have a place in the Nicole by OPI display at Walmart, so I’m guessing they have become a bit more permanent than a normal holiday collection, so you might still be able to find them if you missed out on them late last year!

Onto swatches!

It’s All About the Glam:

It’s All About the Glam is a white shimmer – it looks like it’s got super subtle pink shimmer in it – that was just a mess. This polish was goopy, streaky and difficult to work with. It’s shown above in three coats. I thought a third would cut down on the streakiness, but it continued to streak and got goopy. Ick.

Hard Kourt Fashionista:

Hard Kourt Fashionita is a deep brown creme with a bit of a red undertone that applied wonderfully and looked shiny in two coats.

All Kendall-ed Up:

All Kendall-ed Up is a pretty bright pink creme. This one also applied great; I love the OPI/Nicole by OPI creme formula. Applies like butter!

Sealed With a Kris:

Sealed With a Kris is a deep red creme that looks much lighter in my photos for some reason.

Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi:

Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi is a coral red. It’s not quite opaque in two coats; you can see some VNL. It applied well.

Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam:

Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam is a gorgeous, deep green that’s got a slight dusty look to it but in a totally vampy way. I love this color. It’s almost like it wants to be teal, but it’s not. Gorgeous!

My Empire…My Rules:

My Empire…My Rules is a taupe – or camo – color. Another one that applied great and looks gorgeous.

Kim-Pletely in Love:

Kim-Pletely in Love is a pretty, sheer pink shimmer with a subtle green/pink shimmer shift. You can see a little of my yellowed nail through the color, but I like the VNL you can see. I like this one. Although “Kim-Pletely in Love” is Kim-Pletely a joke now!

Listen to Your Momager!:

Listen to Your Momager! is a jewel-toned blue shimmer. Kinda a bust for me. I mean, it’s a gorgeous color and I love blue, but I feel like I’ve been there, done that with this color.

Wear Something Spar-Kylie:

Over All Kendall-ed Up:

Wear Something Spar-Kylie is an opaque pink glitter in a light pink jelly base. It’s like there’s a couple different, completely complementary pink glitters in the formula, with some slightly larger pieces. It’s a gorgeous glitter.

Disco Dolls:

Disco Dolls is a golden glitter, and slightly larger silver, pink and green glitters all in a clear base. At first I thought the slightly larger pieces were holographic but as I stared at the bottle they looked pretty solid to me. It’s a really cool combination – I don’t have a dupe of this in my stash!

Follow Me On Glitter:

Follow Me On Glitter is silver glitter, with with slightly larger pink, silver, green and blue glitter pieces in a charcoal jelly base. The whole thing has a blueish hint to it, and it’s just beautiful. Very opaque. Another one unique in my stash.

Rainbow in the S-Kylie:

Over It’s All About the Glam:

Rainbow in the S-Kylie is a fun rainbow of brightly-colored, variously-sized glitter in a clear base. I can’t recall if my first two swatches are two or three coats, but if you don’t mind some nail showing it looks great. I’d put it over a base color, though. I tried it out over It’s All About the Glam, because I hoped to make that polish a bit better, and it looked neat.

Kendall on the Katwalk:

Over Listen to Your Momager!:

Kendall on the Katwalk is another amazing polish from this collection. It’s magenta, blue and green glitter in a light blue jelly base. It’s simply stunning, another with no dupe, opaque in two coats. I tried it on over Listen to Your Momager! to see how it would do and I think I may like it better on its own!

 Color Thoughts

Overall, this is an amazing collection.

Let me explain my thoughts on this collection this way: Remember back in the day, when CDs were the hip way to buy your music? I would buy CDs, and most often, just listen to the songs I liked on the albums and skip through the other songs. But there were a few CDs – Acoustic Soul by India Arie, Save the Last Dance soundtrack, to name a couple - that I could put on and listen to over and over from song one to the end, enjoying every bit of groove and mellow.

That’s how I feel about this collection. Is It’s All About the Glam a dud? Yes. But this collection as a whole is like a favorite CD for me, I could keep playing - or rather, wearing – it, and enjoying the polishes each time.

Dupe Talk

So I will start off by saying I don’t believe Disco Dolls, Follow Me On Glitter or Kendall on the Katwalk have dupes. Some might think that Follow Me On Glitter looks like Hello Kitty Silver Star or China Glaze Some Like It Haute – but the difference is that those two have holographic glitters, whereas Follow Me On Glitter has colored glitter pieces that aren’t.

  • Rainbow In the S-Kylie: and it all started with Deborah Lippmann’s Happy Birthday…this Kardashian polish is dupable. Maybe not exactly in how the glitter is made up – sizes might be different as well as some colors – but in addition to Happy Birthday there’s a Confetti polish (CVS brand…not sure of the name of it) that looks similar and even the OPI Rainbow Connection polish from the Muppets Collection is similar. Color Club Wish Upon A Rock-Star, however, I would not call a dupe.
  • I think the cremes in the collection are dupable. With taupe a trendy color, pink of any shade an evergreen hue and tons of renditions of red and coral, these have a great formula (bought at Walmart!) to fall back on when considering whether or not to purchase.

Application Issues

As I mentioned, It’s All About the Glam is the polish that gave me application issues. I had no real issues with the rest of the collection. The glitters were a dream, I was so pleased at their opacity! Truly an amazing part of the collection!!

Additional Information

As I mentioned, these polishes were a holiday collection. So the availability is different now. However, I did spot the rack in the regular cosmetics aisle with slots for these. So you may still be able to find them. At my Walmart they were picked over, but who knows if they’ll be restocking? Those glitters? They are WORTH stalking Walmart for if you don’t have them.

You can read more information about the collection, and about the launch with the Kardashians, here.

Final Thoughts

This collection was a must-have for me. I can firmly say that if samples were not provided I would have been hitting every Walmart in my area to complete the collection for my own. I would have even bought It’s All About the Glam (although I would have been disappointed after I brought her home)!

What did you think of this collection? I know it’s so “last year,” but share your thoughts in the comments below! Did you have a fav?!
